Shocks & Struts

Shocks & Struts

Your vehicle is an intricate machine that depends on many parts to operate. Those parts include shocks or struts. Shocks and struts aren't interchangeable, but they have some similarities. Both play an essential part in ride comfort, and both wear over time and from use.

While you won't be replacing them often (you may even only need to replace them once during your vehicle's life depending on your vehicle and the quality of the factory parts), you won't want to drive with bad ones for long.

At Mission Automotive, we replace shocks and struts to ensure your vehicle continues to drive like it should.

What's the Difference Between Shocks & Struts?

Shock absorbers are responsible for reducing bounce as you drive. This is their sole purpose.

Struts are a structural part of the suspension system. They reduce bounce and play several other significant roles. Struts have a coil spring wrapped around them, which helps to hold up your vehicle. Attached to the suspension system, struts also play a role in positioning the wheels. As a result, it's a recommended to check your wheel alignment when replacing struts.

One way to tell it's time for new shocks or struts is to place your hand on a corner of your vehicle and press your vehicle down. A good shock or strut will return the vehicle to the center and stop. A worn shock or strut will continue moving before stopping.

New shocks and struts can improve vehicle handling, increase brake life, and make the drive more comfortable. Contact Mission Automotive for a smoother ride today. We serve Mission, BC, Abbotsford, BC, Maple Ridge, BC, and surrounding areas.
